FREE CRANE OFFLOAD: The delivery lorry normally includes a crane to unload your log cabin quickly and easily without assistance. If there is no lorry with crane available the driver will unload the cabin by hand. There is normally one pack which is unloaded on the drive or verge at the front of your property. Pack sizes vary from around 3.0m long for a small cabin to 5.5m long for a larger cabin. DECORATIVE FELT TILES: Mineral coated bitumen felt tiles are an attractive and durable roofing material which is far more hardwearing than standard roofing felt. Traditionally used for small buildings only in the UK, most felt tiles are made in Scandinavia where they are used widely in housebuilding.
TOUGHENED GLASS: Toughened glass is around 6 times stronger than normal glass so it is less likely to break and when it does break the glass breaks into harmless small pieces.
UNDERFLOOR INSULATION: The underfloor insulation is designed to suit our optional timber floor or any other timber floor of similar construction. The insulation is fitted between the timber floor joists and suspended below the floor boards. The floor insulation used is 50mm thick and certified by the British Board of Agrement. The certificate number is 87/1796.
ROOF INSULATION: Strong 2"x2" timber framing is fixed down into the roof and mineral wool insulation is fitted between the framing. Man made boards are laid over the insulation and fixed into the framing. This fully encloses the insulation and also provides a flat surface ready for the felt tiles. From outside only the felt tiles are visible. Fom inside only the attractive tongued and grooved roof boards are visible. This well established method has been tried and tested over many years and in a log cabin roof it outperforms more modern materials. The insulation used is 50mm thick mineral wool which is certified by the British Board of Agrement. The certificate number is 05/4207.
PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT: We recommend good quality microporous woodstains which are impervious to water but not to water vapour,. This allows the wood to breathe. There are many different types of woodstains available to suit a variety of timber products from fence panels to hardwood windows. It is advisable to seek advice at a builder's merchant or hardware shop before choosing the most suitable preservative.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Many log cabin suppliers quote only the roof size, which includes the roof overhang. The much smaller cabin size is either not listed at all or hidden in the small print.
